Preparing For The Show

Posted by Art Found Helen on October 21, 2011 at 11:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Well hello everyone!

Just a quickie from the hubub of busy, busyland!

ArtFoundHelen are about to embark on their first exhibition in Cambridgeshire with The Alternative Wedding Fair! This is being held by An Affair To Remember. I'm really excited because all the communications I've had with Heidi from AATR have been wonderful. Through Facebook, Twitter and email. She's a gem.

I'll get pictures and include it in my next blog but for now, I should proably get back to packing my things ready for the big day!

A Lot's Happened Since Then...

Posted by Art Found Helen on September 3, 2011 at 1:20 PM Comments comments (0)

Hello There....

I feel like a world of change has bowled past and ambushed every corner of my world! So, let me begin;

Sister site, Cheshire Tea Parties.

Last time I blogged, it was the beginning of the sister company and website; Cheshire Tea Parties. this was created in order to help create focus and structure.

ArtFoundHelen for the craft sides of things and Cheshire Tea Parties for, well... what it says on the tin! That has since exploded into life and has attracted a lot of attention. Therefore, the blogs will remain mutual and tie in through both websites. The Macmillan Tea Party and The Mad Hatter have been working in perfect harmony to create spectacular events throughout the day.

There is also a new Facebook Page, just for the mad hatter..... HERE

Charity Work

The most exciting thing is that the Macmillan fundraiser coordinators, Silk FM, Canalside Radio AND the MAcclesfield Express have all said they’d like to come along to one of the events and have a chat. How very blooming exciting! I’m going to be on the radio Ma!

If you would like a ticket, get in touch. They’re going for £10 at the moment and includes all your tea, stickies, an entry into the raffle to win a fabulous Art Yard gift and more fun you can shake a stick at! You can find out more on the Cheshire Tea Party website, by emailing me OR by popping into the Art Yard, Macclesfield on a Thursday/Friday!

So, back to ArtFoundHelen land:

NEW! NEW! NEW!

Etsy has also been inundated with some new and exciting shiny things... jewellery! Now, at the time of writing, what has been released is the prettiest and most girly... as best ArtFoundHelen can do, you see. What we’re working on now is to get the signature skulls done just right in time for Halloween so you can wear them proudly! We’ll also be doing some special Christmas items too.

If you’re not yet a fan or a follower of ArtFoundHelen; get over to Facebook/Twitter as there’ll be some special offers exclusively available to the followers of ArtFoundHelen! In the run up to the Alternative Wedding Fair, Halloween and (I know...) Christmas.... we’ve been very quiet about the designs being put forward for these. Once we’re happy with the ones we’re going to use for what (and how... oh, the joys of logistics!), we’ll get you a sneak peek! This means that we’re in the editing process and soon to be in print! I love the printing stage. Love it.

And in other news:

This website is about to be edited too. Just so it’s a little clearer what we do and how we do it. We’ve been fortunate enough to receive feedback and so, because we listen, we’re going to do something about it!

ArtFoundHelen has also just released a sneak peek of some of the commissioned items done on glass recently. Have a look at the Glassware section for a good nosey on that subject. We’re been inundated with wine glasses requests for weddings this summer. Such a lovely idea (if I’m ever so biased!) because you can personalise with their names, dates... anything you like really!

Phew! Think that's about it. That's what you get for not blogging consistanly enough, I guess! Blimey... until next time.

The Mad Hatter, The Art Yard and The Macmillan Tea Party!

Posted by Art Found Helen on August 20, 2011 at 7:00 AM Comments comments (0)

So - ArtFoundHelen is very, very busy at present! The biggest thing happening this week is the preparation for the Macmillan Coffee Morning OR, as we like to do things: the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party!

ArtFoundHelen has been working as a creative consultant with the Art Yard, Macclesfield. In the three week since they’ve opened, we’ve been learning a lot about each other, the nature of running a business in Macclesfield and talking to customers and fellow tea lovers! Since The Art Yard began, I’m now officially dubbed as their Events Coordinator. This is where we begin the real fun!

Macmillan are running the biggest coffee morning on Friday 30th September. So far, according to their website, there’s only one scheduled event in Macclesfield: US!

The idea is you and your friends buy a ticket for a tea party (there are four times to choose from so far). Included in your ticket so far is: unlimited tea tasting (it really is fabulous tea darlings), beautiful locally sources cakes and stickies, entry into a mini raffle sponsored by the Art Yard for a scrummy gift bag and much more!!

So, come along to the Art Yard, Macclesfield for your ticket and more information, darlings!! Keep your eyes peeled on their Facebook page or Twitter feed for instant updates. And, as always, remain fabulous!

Creativity Captured....

Posted by Art Found Helen on August 16, 2011 at 2:45 AM Comments comments (0)

So, I was franticaly trying to fall asleep last night, listening to my own brain scraping at the door to be let out and roam free. So many ideas, so much of an inappropriate a time to start working on them... what to do?

Of recent, I swear I've come up with the best ideas just before falling asleep, this is just a tribute...

After talking to others in the creative field, I've fond that this is a common worry: Not quite at the point of giving up the 9 - 5 in order to live a full life of creativity but getting busy enough that, time wise, you could justify it!

So, what to do when you have an urge to make notes of an idea at 1am, partner asleep next to you and no immediate access to pen and paper? Just locked in your own mind, desperatley hoping that the more you chant your idea into the pitch black, it will become stronger and return to you in the morning in all its shining glory.

From experience, I used to be able to just get up, work through it and not worry about going to work the next day on extra ordinarily little sleep. Now I'm (only just) past 21, it would seem the tables have turned and the grown up life I appear to have signed up for, frowns quite severely on such antics.

Desperate to not lose an idea last night, I came up with a new plan. Now, those of you who kow me personally know I like to carry pens and pencils in my hair and, when I get to bed, I take them out and they live on my bedside table. Last night was no exception.

With Mr ArtFound flat out on my arm, I sought out one of these fabulous biros from my bedside table (thanking myself for being such a messy and not tidying them away) and - as I had no paper, had to draw where I could: my torso (obv.).

I thought this was a genius idea. No one gets woken up, I'm making sure I don't forget stuff (it's not that different from writing on your hand) and the ideas that feel as thought they escape me night after night are captured and nurtured.

Of course... Mr ArtFound is now convinced I've lost the plot. Perhaps, if I have, I don't care one skin jotter.

An old favourite has also made it's way onto the open market:

The ArtFoundHelen stationary logo has been streamlined, sassyfied and has made it's way onto one of the newly designed cards and the envelopes for all cards! Lovely.

There's also room for a quick Happy Birthday from the Drunken Monster!

I'm loving moving forward, diet coke breaks, short shorts because the only person to see you all day is your hubby, Doctor Who (shh), new ideas and getting very giddy about them, tea parties and organising meetings.

Big Thank Yous

Hello there lovelies!

It's been a bit of a busy week but I'm trying to keep you all up to date as much as possible. The blog is from here on in going to feature more updates and sneak peeks at up and coming artwork/designs.

The Alternative Wedding Fair in Cambridge has officially been the project of the week and the focus of all my organisation skills. I've got to get all the stuff done so far into a viewable state (of the real life variety) and there's going to be a painting completed in all it's glory for the date too! Put it in your diaries: Sunday 23rd October.

Some more of the designs made so far have already gone to print and there's going to be some more to follow. I've had some extra treats made up for folk following on Twitter and Facebook.

After fussing and changing things around, artfoundhelen.com will now be as simple and streamlined as I can possibly make it (anyone who's every witnessed me work will understand the magnitude of this statement). So, there's the Facebook/Twitter feed for little nuggets of information and promotions, Etsy to purchase beautiful things and artfoundhelen.com to hold it all together like the love-glue it has become! Simples.

I shall endeavour to also make my little blogging corner a little more colourful and interesting (but reigned in... you know, keeping it simple etc) after some lovely feedback from folk. I honestly didn't realise so many people read my rambling until I checked the stats!

Thank you, you wonderful people. ArtFoundHelen Loves you. Muchos. You now deserve treats. I will sort this for you very, very soon.

Exciting new developments going on here then...

FIRSTLY: The new Art Gallery for Macclesfield is now open and officially fabulous!! Check out The Art Yard of Facebook and Twitter for up to date exciting goings on.

I've been helping to set up (and organise a little bit) and they're now officially one week old today! As part of ongoing excitement, they've given me the reigns to organise events such as; glorious tea parties!! Of course, there will be some very ArtFoundHelen themed and some more on the conservative style too - we're now taking bookings!

SECONDLY: As part of a revamp on Macclesfield, the local Pizza Express are looking for local artist to feature in their window from September - January... ArtFoundHelen has expressed an interest and will be showing her work to them asap, along with other artists from the Art Yard... we may have exclusivity here... fingers crossed people!

THIRDLY: I've just officially put my name down for the Alternative Wedding Exhibition on the 23rd October!! Now got to get a jiffy on with those designs getting to the printers... Lots more juicy information available as it happens on the Facebook/Twitter feeds.

FOURTHLY: I've been nominated for the Woman of the Year award within my Slimming World Group! That was a bit of a surprise of epic (but very pleasant) proportions! How exciting!

(Can you tell I've been writing meeting minutes this evening... just realised I sound a little more organised than usual...)

Pretty much think that's it for now... as if that wasn't enough for you all!!

Very Excited!

Posted by Art Found Helen on July 24, 2011 at 3:44 PM Comments comments (0)

Well Helloooo,

Just finished the first mini project: The vintage scrapbook is not being tried out with a couple more designs 'just getting there'... it's been an epic weekend:

Thursday: Decided to get rid of the fags... roll on two days later and I'm there... I think. Damn patches didn't stick on me and the gum makes me sick but I've not had one all day (Sunday).

Friday: I now don't 'do' Fridays, darling... I concentrate on my art and help out with a local gallery that's set to open NEXT FRIDAY!! That alone has been exciting as I've been helping paint the whole thing as well as devising cunning plans with them. Also day one of proper not smoking and I failed with 5 for the day. Not bad though.

Saturday: Brief paint in the morning, Buddhist meeting for the afternoon and respectfully disagreeing with my computer throughout the evening. Again - teeny fail as I had one smoke in the evening. Again, pretty darn good.

Sunday: Major hauling of ass as my little computer dies a death in the middle of a project for @Tattybojangles (muchos love to the lady and her patience!) as the computer would.not.convert.ai>jpg.without.making.them.5mx5m.. still not had a cigarello though. I'm proud. I hope @chiswick_chris is still a little proud of me...

Anyway - biggest news is that the mini project, to see if this would actually work, is now complete.... check it out lovers and keep an eye because there's more on the way and for the first week, you get a delicious 10% off!

Well Hello again,

Decided to keep this bit a tad more up to date so you know when new things are being added.

The website has now been completely rejigged and new designs are going up every day. Now the bulk of the website work has been done, I can chill out a bit and crawl back into my little studio to do what I love best: drawing, sketching and painting! Lovely.

Keep your eyes peeled for more designs and upcoming events too... maybe I should put a calendar up...? Hmm.

Anywhoo - good seeing you again folks!

Muchos Love,

Hx
